Ideas for using flowers in autumn wedding planning.

Warm Autumn Weddings

Autumn is a great time to have a wedding. In most of the United States, it is the season of beautifully changing leaves and perfect temperatures. An Autumn wedding theme brings with it a feeling of warmth. Using rich colors and outdoor inspired décor, a bride can create a beautiful Autumn theme wedding.

The changing colors of leaves are one of the first indications Autumn is really underway. Although most would agree a tree’s leaves are full of life in the spring or summer, it is in the autumn they really hit their prime. Using inspiration from the autumn leaves, brides can choose appropriate wedding colors. Rich tones of orange, brown, burgundy, forest green and bronze are wonderful Autumn theme wedding colors. These warm tones help set the tone of the wedding.

Flowers for an Autumn theme wedding should be specifically of the season. An Autumn theme wedding can include roses or tulips, however it is more fitting to use flowers like mums. Sunflowers can also be used due to their late blooming schedules and perfect shades. It is recommended autumn brides use fewer flowers than usual and fill in with an abundance of greenery. Any type of greenery will work. This is done to copy the season, as there are fewer flowers in the Autumn season as there are in spring or summer.

An Autumn wedding works well in both indoor and outdoor settings. A bride getting married in the Autumn has a genuine choice. Autumn is a time of little rain, so a bride who wants an outdoor wedding might feel more comfortable getting married in the Autumn. Those who do choose indoor weddings can re-create the season by bringing elements of the outdoors inside.

Faux strands of Autumn colored leaves and vinery is a great decorative tool for an Autumn theme wedding. It can be used to fill in anywhere in the ceremony or reception. It is not only a filler, but is also beautiful by itself and should be used in large amounts to create the theme. Brides can use this decorative vine to dress up candelabras or pew bows. It can also be used on reception tables to carry the theme.

Large pots of mums are beautiful low cost additions to an Autumn theme wedding. Tying wide gold ribbons around the pots can add a decorative accent. By placing them around the ceremony site, the bride is once again bringing the outdoors inside.

Although brides have the option to choose a dress of any color, most brides opt for a dress in white or ivory. It is recommended a bride forgo the white dress and choose one of ivory or another warm tone for an Autumn theme wedding. A wedding in this theme should not include the color white in any area.

Going with the “no white” rule, traditionally brides choose white pew bows. Brides once again should use ivory if they opt for the traditional pew bow. A fresher idea for brides to consider is to toss out the ivory pew bow and go for a bolder look with gold sash ties. These ties are simply made from rich gold material. The material is cut into long strips and tied into a simple shoestring bow.

The main rule in an Autumn theme wedding is to use the colors of the season. Using the rich tones of Autumn will transform a normal wedding into an Autumn theme wedding. The warm feeling of an Autumn theme wedding will delight guests and leave the bride and groom with a sense of satisfaction.
