Materials:
-
Cork bulletin board purchased
at your favorite discount store. You could also use one purchased at
a garage sale or thrift store.
-
Fabric at least two inches
wider than each side of the bulletin board
-
Decorative cording trim
-
Unfinished wooden letters
purchased from your favorite craft store to spell out your name. You
should get the ones that are thin and lightweight.
-
Spray adhesive glue suitable
for fabric.
-
Glue Gun
1) Lay the fabric over the
board, making sure it can be folded around to the back of the bulletin board
on all sides. Fold 1/2 the fabric back from the board. Spray
adhesive on the exposed 1/2 of the board. Use your fingers to smooth and
press the fabric, starting at the center and working toward the edges.
Push any air bubbles out to the edges. Repeat with the remaining 1/2 of
the fabric.
2) With your finger, press
the fabric tightly against the board so you can tell where the board ends and
the wooden frame begins.
3) After the fabric is layed
on the board, spray the wooden frame with the spray adhesive and wrap the
fabric onto the back of the bulletin board. When the fabric comes to a
corner, fold the fabric like a present.
4) Let it set for one hour
for the adhesive to dry.
5) Heat the glue gun.
Tape the ends of the cord so it won't fray. Start to glue the decorative
cording in the corner of the board next to the wooden frame.
6) Paint the wooden letters
with your favorite acrylic paint, and use the glue gun to glue at the top of
the board.
