Quotation Picture FrameWhat a fabulous gift idea! Personalize a picture frame with an inspirational quote or saying and awe that special person. These frames are as easy as they are fun to make! Each frame you craft is personalized with a quotation or a saying that is painted right onto the frame. It really can’t get much more personal than that. These frames are an unique twist to a popular gift idea and are surprisingly inexpensive to make.
All of the materials you need are available at your local crafting and hobby store or at a local discount retailer. You can even use frames that you already have around your house. Find a frame that needs some “flare” and dress it up. This craft is an easy way to subtly change your home decor and only spend a few dollars.
What you will need:
Plain picture frame (look around in the spare room or attic for old frames)
Crafting paint or paint pens in your choice of colors
Small paint brushOPTIONAL:
Beads
Rhinestones
GlitterTo create a quotation frame, simply:
1. choose the frame you will be working with,
2. choose the color of crafting paint you will be using,
3. and choose the quotation you want to put onto your frame.
I generally free-hand the quotations onto the frames and I feel that this adds to the unique look of these photo frames. (I have also found it is sometimes difficult to stencil quotations onto frames due to the small surface space you are working with.)
Once you have decided on the above three things, all there is left to do is begin! Be creative and let your imagination guide you. There are so many possibilities to this craft, I’m sure you’ll want to make a dozen!
Where can I find quotes?
Look around you! Find an everyday saying that means something special to you, or you look through magazines or on the internet for quotations and sayings. Check your local public library. There are several books available on quotations and sayings.
Additional Tips:
Make a collection of frames in different sizes and/or colors with quotes from the same person.
Use the same exact frame style and color as well as the same crafting paint color and use quotations from different authors with the same meaning. (example: quotes about love, children, pets, etc.)
Add colorful touches to the frame such as polka dots, swirls, or use glitter paint for an extra sparkle.
Add rhinestones or beads the frame for an extra special touch. I think it is adorable to dot an ‘I” with a colored rhinestone.
For your child’s room, make a frame and quote a favorite cartoon character or action hero.
Create a frame for a friend or loved one with a “quote” that reminds you of them. I gave a close friend a quotation frame as a gift with the quote “I know I’m right!” painted on to it, because that is what she always says!
For a spiritual person in your life create a frame with a verse from the Bible.
You aren’t limited to using quotations from famous people. Use sayings and phrases such as “I’m the mom and that’s why!” or “Man’s Best Friend.”
Make the graduate in the family a “Class of ...” frame.
Combine two craft projects in one! I used the “distressed” crafting technique on this frame, then added my quote.
